Passport
- — • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date of your trip. • It must also contain at least 2 blank pages.
Identity photo
- — • It must be in colour, taken against a plain white background, in 35x45mm format and printed on photo paper (as for your identity card or passport). • You can check whether your photo meets the required criteria using the following document: Photo requirements
Visa application form

- — Below are the different steps to fill in the form (to print, date and sign in black ink).
- — Start by downloading and printing the visa application form using the following link: Ethiopia Form
- — Fill in the form in capital letters. Be precise.
- — Carefully complete the «Informations personnelles» section.
- — Then, in the section «Visa sollicité », choose the desired type of visa: diplomatic, student, transit, tourism or business.
- — Also specify the duration of the visa and note the date of entry into Éthiopie as well as the number of days you plan to stay there.
- — Date and sign the form.
Copy of your return flight tickets
- — Print a copy of your return flight reservation.
- — Please note: Applicants who do not hold a Belgian, Dutch or Luxembourg passport must also present a residence card

A letter of presentation from the applicant's employer
- — • This letter must be written on the company's headed paper. • State the traveller's name, date of birth and passport number, as well as the name and address of the company. • Check that the arrival and departure date of the destination country is also stated and specify the desired visa duration and the number of entries. • It is important to state that the company guarantees all costs related to the trip, with a company stamp and a signature. • You can download a sample letter of introduction here: Sample letter of introduction
An invitation letter
- — • This letter must be written by a company or organisation officially registered in Ethiopia. • This must be addressed to the consulate of Ethiopia in Brussels • State the traveller's name, date of birth and passport number. • Check that the arrival and departure date of the destination country is also stated and specify the desired visa duration and the number of entries. • The letter must be signed and bear an official company stamp. • You can download a sample letter of introduction here: Sample invitation letter
Letter of visa approval by the Department of Immigration of Ethiopia
- — • The company or organisation inviting you to Ethiopia should first request a visa approval letter from the Ethiopian Immigration Department.
- — Please note: Applicants who do not hold a Belgian, Dutch or Luxembourg passport must also present a residence card.
Processing time
- — We can handle your application and obtain your visa within 8-12 days if you opt for the normal procedure. For more urgent applications we also offer express processing which takes 4-6 days. Rush applications are sometimes possible, contact us for this type of exceptional request.
