Passport
- — • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the return date of your trip.
- — • It must also contain at least 2 blank pages.
Two identity photos
- — • They must be in colour, taken against a plain light background, in 35x45mm format and printed on photo paper (as for your identity card or passport).

Photocopy of the identity card
- — • Make sure to make a double-sided photocopy of your identity card.
- — • Applicants who do not hold a Belgian, Dutch or Luxembourg passport must present a copy of their residence card.
Two visa application forms

- — Below are the different steps to fill in the form (to print, date and sign in black ink).
- — Start by downloading and printing two copies of the visa application form using the following link: Malawi Form
- — Fill in the form in capital letters. Be precise.
- — Start by underlining the desired number of entries: single, multiple or transit visa. If you need to travel to Malawi several times, choose multiple entry.
- — Then, carefully fill in the first page of the form by noting your personal details and the details of your passport.
- — Then note the arrival date in Malawi and the address of your hotel or of your host with whom you plan to stay.
- — In the section « Reasons for proposed visit to Malawi », write that you are going there for touristic reasons. However, if you intend to visit someone, write that you want to visit a friend, but be careful, in that case you also need a letter of invitation.
- — Then, note how many days you will spend in Malawi, as well as the departure date.
- — In the section « Mode of transport», specify whether you will enter the country by plane or by car, by bus, etc.
- — In the section « Onwards passage booked for », note whether you will return to Belgium after your trip to Malawi or whether you intend to visit other countries.
- — Then write the amount you have available for your stay. As a general rule, you must have about 1000€ per week of stay and per person.
- — In the section « Historical background information », indicate whether you have already travelled to Malawi. If so, specify the reason for the trip (tourism, business, family visit, etc.) as well as the address of your accommodation.
- — Date and sign the form.

- — • Print a copy of your return flight reservation.
Letter of invitation or proof of accommodation
- — • This is only required if you plan to stay in Malawi for a longer period, e.g. 2 months.
- — • Print a copy of your accommodation reservation or ask your host to write a letter explaining that you plan to stay with them.

- — • This letter must be written by a company or organisation officially registered in Malawi.
- — • This must be addressed to the embassy of Malawi.
- — • State the traveller's name, date of birth and passport number.
- — • Check that the arrival and departure date of the visited country is also stated, as well as the desired visa duration and the number of entries.
- — • The letter must be dated, signed and bear an official company stamp.

Processing time
- — We can handle your application and obtain your visa within 8-12 working days if you opt for the normal procedure. For more urgent applications, opt for express processing which takes 4-6 working days. Rush applications are sometimes possible, contact us for this type of exceptional request.
